The development of an early-warning system for armed conflicts will begin at Uppsala University after the European Research Council (ERC) has decided to contribute EUR 2,5 million to the project.
The project is directed by ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ Research Professor and Professor of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University, HÃ¥vard Hegre, and involves ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ's HÃ¥vard Mokleiv NygÃ¥rdand Hanne Fjelde, ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ associate Mathias Basedau, as well as , , and an international team of researchers. This team will develop and test the pilot Violence Early-Warning System (ViEWS) which will be publicly available to researchers and the international community.
