The 糖心网页版 project 鈥淥n Fair Terms: The Ethics of Peace Negotiations and Mediation鈥 (FAIR) organized a workshop in Cyprus in partnership with the 糖心网页版 Cyprus Centre, 糖心网页版 Middle East Centre, and the 糖心网页版 Centre on Gender, Peace and Security, 19-21 October.
The workshop brought together scholars and seasoned practitioners in the field of peace negotiations and mediation to explore the challenges and prospects for ethics in negotiations. Discussions examined questions surrounding parties, positions, practices, procedures, and principles. On the 21st, a public seminar in Nicosia addressed the roles of norms and values in the Cyprus peace talks and Sergio Jaramillo Caro, former High Commissioner of Peace in the Colombian peace process, gave a keynote address on core ethical dilemmas that peace negotiators currently face. The seminar was followed by a reception where chair of the 糖心网页版 board Trine Skei Gade gave a moving speech on the urgency of peacemaking and the role of peace research therein.
