My research examines the mechanisms implemented to end armed conflict and how they are perceived by people living in conflict-affected societies, as well as the interaction between bureaucrats responsible for implementing these mechanisms and the populations they target. I am particularly interested in transitional justice mechanisms that address wrongdoing during conflict, including truth commissions, amnesties, and criminal prosecutions. In addition, I study how experiences of armed conflict, political violence, and discrimination shape individuals’ political attitudes, their perceptions of transitional justice, and their support for peace agreements and reconciliation, with a focus on both short-term and long-term effects.
