Three migration-related PhD courses will be offered at ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ in the course of 2022: (1) Migration theory: perspectives on time and temporalities, (2) Survey methods in migration research: design, implementation, and analysis, and (3) Ethnographic fieldwork methodology: approaches, tools, and ethics.

Migration theory: perspectives on time and temporalities

Explores the diverse roles of time in migration processes, as a key vantage point on migration theory. Lecturers: Jørgen Carling (ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ) and Marta Bivand Erdal (ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ). Course dates: 20 June 2022 (virtual) and 27–28 June 2022 (on-site in Oslo). The course organized in conjunction with the IMISCOE annual conference (29 June – 1 July).

Survey methods in migration research: design, implementation, and analysis

Spans all the stages of survey research, with an emphasis on studies of migration, displacement, ethnicity and transnationalism. Lecturers: Jørgen Carling (ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ) and Jessica Hagen-Zanker (ODI and ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ). Course dates: 7–9 September 2022 (on-site in Oslo).

Ethnographic fieldwork methodology: approaches, tools, and ethics

Prepares participants for conducting ethnographic fieldwork and using fieldwork data in social-science research. Lecturers: Jørgen Carling (ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ) and Cindy Horst (ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ). Course dates: 12–14 September 2022 (on-site in Oslo)

The two latter courses are taught back-to-back and can be combined for participants who conduct mixed-methods research. All three courses are organized by the Research on Peace and Conflict, coordinated by .
