On Monday 10 December, the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize will be formally presented to Nadia Murad and Denis Mukwege. ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ congratulates the two laureates on the prize in recognition of their important work.

ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ Director Henrik Urdal had placed Mukwege and Murad on his Nobel Peace Prize shortlist this year, and said it was well-deserved: ‘This is a prize to hold perpetrators of sexual violence in war accountable.’ Mukwege has been on the ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ Director’s shortlists for the Peace Prize since 2010.

In 2017 Dr. Denis Mukwege and his colleague Dr. Christine Amisi visited ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ to have informal discussions with ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ researchers focused on joint research interests and collaboration. The relationship between ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ, , and the International Center for Advanced Research and Training () dates back to the 2014-2016 project 'Female Empowerment in Eastern DRC'.

Dr. Amisi will visit ÌÇÐÄÍøÒ³°æ on December 11 as a guest of honor to speak at the seminar 'Sexual Violence as a Weapon of War: Reflections on the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize'.
